Weekly Update April 17, 2025

Posted On Thursday April 17, 2025

Hello Westwold & RLC,

I am again having conflicted feelings.  I am very happy to be able to share how proud we are of Mrs Leggett who is being asked again to support another school as an Interim Principal for the next several weeks.  She has earned these opportunities by demonstrating the qualities that make a great leader.  While we are sad to see her go, we are happy for her too.  I am also pleased to be able to share that Mrs Brown will return to RLC to support us while Mrs Leggett is away.  Please join me in welcoming Mrs Brown and congratulating Mrs Leggett.

Have a great Easter weekend.  We look forward to seeing everyone again on Tuesday.

KTFC Interior Elementary Track and Field Championships 2025
The Kamloops Track & Field Club (KTFC) would like to extend an invitation to their 3rd Annual BC Interior Elementary Track and Field Championships on June 14th at Hillside Stadium.

This meet provides another opportunity for students to compete against other athletes in the Interior region following the District meet. It is local and affordable for families. Students can enter up to three events and a relay that they can sign up for at the event. We offer medals for places 1st-3rd and ribbons for 4th-8th.

ALL students are welcome aged 9-13. There are no restrictions. Athletes can enter this meet as a BC Athletics club member or an unattached individual athlete (no affiliation). Athletes can enter their school name when registering if they are attending with family or friends. Let the school know if you plan on going and we can look at lending out a school jersey.

RLC Track & Field Meets - Volunteers Needed - May 7 and May 8

Thank you to Mrs. Strom, Mrs. Wilmot, and Mrs. Macdonald for their work behind the scenes to organize our upcoming Primary and Intermediate Track and Field Meets.

Students in Grade K-3 at RLC will be participating in the Primary Track and Field Meet at RLC on Wednesday, May 7. The Primary students will be participating in modified events to help build the foundational skills in track and field. Students in Grades 4-7 will be participating in the Intermediate Track and Field Meet at RLC on Thursday, May 8..

These Meets would not be possible without the tremendous support we receive from our families with volunteering their time to run various events. Thanks to those who have already signed up to volunteer for one or both of our Track and Field Meets.  We are still in need of at least 20 more volunteers, so please consider volunteering if you are able to.

Last year, we had an incredible amount of volunteers come out to support our Track Meet. Thank you!

In order to hold a successful school Track and Field Meet once again, many volunteers are needed and appreciated.  We require support with both our track events (60/80/100/200/300m)  and field events (shot put, high jump, triple jump, shot put).  We are looking for approximately 20 volunteers on each day to assist with the various events.

Volunteer Sign-up: If you are able to help out for the full or partial day on either or both days, please respond to the Google Form:   Volunteers - RLC Track and Field Meets 2025. You can indicate which area you would like to help with (for example, if you have experience with a certain event, we would love to have your expertise at that station, or would like to help out with the concession, please indicate on the Form).

In addition, our wonderful PAC has offered to organize a concession stand which will also require a lot of parent volunteers.  All students in Grades K-7 will have an opportunity to purchase items at the concession (more information on this to be sent home at a later date). The concession stand will only be open on Thursday, May 8.

Should you have any questions, please email Mrs. Leggett at jleggett@sd73.bc.ca

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.
